Be careful with your bidding on eBay!

Every once in a while, you'll bid and win an item on ebay that turns out to be misrepresented.  These things happen, and can be evened out with a seller who is honest and offers a refund or some sort of correction.  If the seller lies and ignores you, and the sale bombed because of a slick form of basic fraud, then the spirit of purchasing a product on eBay is simply not fair.  One only has the photograph and description of an item with which to consider an attempt to win the item.  When you win it, you naturally expect the item to arrive in the true spirit and honesty that eBay promotes.  On June 18, 2007, the following occurred with the below described eBay item.  Checking the feedback of the seller (chupacabra6969), the different buyers who left several negative feedbacks experienced the same treatment that I received with this sale.  I am forced to keep the trash he sent, but I'll make sure that others have a chance to be warned by my experience.

UNC SaDDaM 1 1/4 HORSE DINAR & PACKISTAN & STAMP LOT

For over a year, this thief is no longer registered with eBay (verified June, 2010), and has disappeared (most likely returning under another name).  You can check his feedback, though, by clicking on the link under this paragraph, and scroll through to see the buyer responses.  His specialty was to rip people off with shipping costs, swapping out by not shipping what people bought, and ignoring complaints made by buyers.  eBay will allow the buyer to hang, which feeds crooks such as this.

The item was photographed by the seller and put up on eBay with the photo below.  The layout is clever showing the new Iraq bills most prominent for the picture, and only three bills above them with tape.  The bills on the right of the photo show one taped, and one with a cut, but they do not display as poorly as what was actually received in the mail.  The below photo is what appeared on the eBay auction:

Below is how the item was exactly described on eBay.  Note the item is listed for a penny, yet shipping is $7.50 (the dumbest way to make the item look to be selling inexpensively).  Although I know this stupid stunt, it was figured that the bills would be worth the price.  They certainly were not.  Note that the "condition: Uncirculated" would only describe the new 4 bills---not the whole lot.

Beware of what you buy with this sellers such as this.  eBay will not truly help buyers who have been screwed by sellers.
